DMV INSPECTIONS 2025
Please make sure to have these items posted.
1. ENSURE your sign displays your dealer name, address, and phone number. Ideally, the sign should be permanently affixed to the building's wall or door.
2. Your display area should have a sign, and all vehicles must have buyer's guides or "not for sale" signs if applicable.
3. You must also post your days and hours of operation.
4. In your office, where you complete paperwork for clients, you need to display the business license or tax certificate from the county or city where you operate.
5. Display the seller permit from CDTFA.CA.GOV on the wall, ensuring it is valid and not revoked.

8. All sold vehicles should be documented in a dealer jacket with the ROS, a copy of the REG 262, a signed copy of the "No Cooling Off" notice, and a copy of the buyer's guide.
9. Any salesperson, general manager, or individual handling DMV paperwork must have a salesperson license displayed on the wall.
10. Ensure your dealer license is displayed on the wall.
11. Verify that the bond and business license are current.
12. Confirm that your LLC or Corporation is active and in good standing if applicable.
13. Keep the key for your locked file cabinet available, and ensure items are securely stored for at least four years.
14. "By appointment only" office hours are no longer allowed. The DMV now requires office hours to be no less than 48 hours apart, ensuring customers can reach the dealer within this timeframe.
15. Curb signs are no longer accepted. You must have a permanent sign mounted to the ground with a pole.
